The Riders’ youth mountain bike program is back for Summer 2018

The Mad River Rippers is a guided mountain bike program for kids, based at our fun-for-all Blueberry Lake network, with rides and coaching for kids from age 6 to 13.  Rides are every Tuesday from 5PM - 7 PM from late May through late September.  The program is free to 2018 Mad River Riders family members ages 5-13. We usually have a strider ride for the 2-4 year olds too. The cost for non-members is $50 for the season and scholarships are available.  Attendance at 8 or more sessions earns a free Rippers t-shirt.  Email for a registration form.

Kids are placed into small groups based on age, experience and riding style.  Groups are led by experienced and trained adult riders.  If you’ve never ridden singletrack, you’ll learn how.  If you already ride, you’ll get a lot better.  You’ll definitely have fun and can end the day with a swim in the lake.  Parents are welcome to ride with us and to volunteer as guides.

In addition to the regular rides at Blueberry Lake, we may plan tougher rides in Camel's Hump State Forest and other areas for 11 to 13 year olds who are confident riders.  Drop-off and pick-up locations are different for each ride.  If you’re interested, just let us know by email and we’ll share details.

Pre-registration is required.  To sign up, email Bob Kogut at for a registration form, waiver, and more detailed information about the program.  Please consider becoming a member of the Mad River Riders.  Memberships support programs like the Rippers and helps us build more trails like the network at Blueberry Lake.  Go to or to join.  We’re also looking for volunteers, 14 and older, to help with the Rippers.  Thank you and rip on!
